Blending the flavors, traditions, recipies and prisoners of Flanders and Norway
At the end of October 2024, a delegation with prison teachers from Belgium, mainly from Beveren Prison, visited Trondheim. They were given a tour of both the high-security prison at Nermarka and the low-security prison at Leira.
The purpose of the visit was to see how prison education was conducted, the school’s premises and offerings, but there were also meetings with students in workshops and classrooms.
The tour of the high-security facility ended with a lunch that the school’s culinary students had prepared together with the school’s culinary arts teacher. They had prepared a three-course lunch that showcased Norwegian food traditions. The students presented the meal, and the visitors from Belgium had a chat with them about the culinary education and how it takes place in Trondheim.
